Four Tips For Choosing The Perfect Venue For Your Winter Wedding

Blog

If you are someone who is interested in having a winter wedding, it is important to take the time to choose the perfect venue for your big event. Unlike a summer wedding, you have to take inclement weather into consideration when planning a winter wedding in a location that can get snow from time to time. Use the following guide to learn a few things to consider when choosing your perfect winter wedding venue.

Consider the Parking Situation

When choosing a venue, be sure to consider the parking arrangements offered at the venue. If it snows, you want to be sure that everyone will easily be able to get in and out of the parking lot. There are some venues that have guests park in grassy areas that can be very difficult to maneuver during snowy or wet conditions. You want to be sure that your guests are able to come to your wedding with or without four-wheel drive on their vehicles.

Consider the Ease of Access to the Building

After parking their cars, you want to be sure that your guests can easily get to the venue from the parking lot. Choose a venue that has sidewalks and paved areas available for people to walk in so that they do not have to tromp through snow to get to the building. Be sure that the agreement states that the venue will be responsible for removing all snow and laying salt on the sidewalks before the wedding takes place so everyone can walk safely to and from the venue.

Consider Having Your Wedding and Reception at One Location

To ensure that your guests don't have to travel from one place to another after inclement weather, have your wedding and reception at the same venue. There are many venues that will set up the space for your wedding and then rearrange all of the chairs and add tables during the cocktail hour to create a lovely reception area for you and your guests to use.

Determine How the Venue Handles Power Outages

Finally, you need to find out what the venue's protocol for power outages is. You want to be sure that your wedding will be able to go on even if there is no power coming to the venue. Be sure that the venue will use generators to create the power if the power does go out so that you can have your dream wedding no matter what. At the very least you want a plan in place to make sure guests remain calm and comfortable in such a situation.

Once you have found a venue that meets all of the needs for your wedding, be sure to book it as soon as you can. Wedding locations often fill up very quickly and the sooner you can book your perfect venue the better your chances of getting it for the day that you want it will be.
