Tips for Saving Money on Your Wedding Cake

Blog

If you are getting ready to plan your wedding but would like to save as much money as you can on your wedding cake, you will want to take a few moments to review the following tips.

Buy a Sheet Cake for Your Guests

You will still order the traditional wedding cake for you, your soon-to-be spouse, and maybe your wedding party. However, it does not have to be extremely large because you are not also going to serve any of that to your guests. Instead, order a large sheet cake that you can have cut and served to all of your guests at your reception. This is the cheaper option because sheet cakes are easier to make and will have less decorations on them.

Have a Cupcake Wedding Cake

In order to make sure that all of your guests are being served equally sized pieces of cake and you provide enough, you might want to think about having a cupcake wedding cake. You can make the cupcakes yourself or have friends or family help you with it. Many wedding cake bakers are now offering this as one of their more affordable options. They simply bake up as many cupcakes as you will need in order to give every guest one and arrange them on cake tiers. The tops of the cupcakes are then frosted and designed. If the decorator is really talented he or she can even make it look like one giant cake when it is really individual cupcakes.

Order Your Cake During the Off Season

If you have access to a very large freezer, you might want to order our wedding cake during the time of year that is not busiest for the bakers in your area. This may allow you to get a better deal on the price. Freeze the wedding cake and then pull it out in time to completely thaw for your wedding reception. Just make sure that you are careful to have the cake packaged properly for freezing, as this will ensure that it will not end up with any freezer burn.

With those three tips in mind, you should find that it can be a lot easier to save money on your wedding cake than you might have ever thought. All you have to do now is decide what kind of wedding cake you want for your special day. For more information, contact local wedding cake bakers and designers.
